Pregnancy means MAJOR changes in the hormones of the female body. Apart from the structural change 😀 you may notice changes in your hair & skin. For the first two months I suffered from a severe hair fall so much so that I could see a minuscule bald patch just above my forehead. As soon as it got better my skin started acting up! Painful acne all over my face, chest and back. My face became an oil factory no matter how much hydrated I was or no matter how many times I washed my face, my face was always oily. Not just face my hair was oily the same day of the wash and it was not just oily oily but people sometimes asked me if I had oiled my hair 🤦🏻♀️. With my hair I was somehow assured that it will be fine once the baby pops out. I was only worried about my skin. Was afraid of adult acne! Acne is something I’ve never had in my life and when people get that pregnancy glow my skin was dull and oily.
So my pre-pregnancy skin care routine was:
- Face wash using The Nature’s Co. Coffee Scrub or The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Face Wash
- TruSkin Vit C serum
- Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist or Neutrogena Hydroboost Gel
- Argan Oil or Triology Rosehip Oil or Murad Vit C Cream (Any one of these)
- Night time was using Etude House Collagen Repair Gel.
This routine was working wonders for me until acne hit me hard! None of this worked. Even tried Bio Oil. It worked for few days but then back to square one. Once the baby was out I was still patient enough thinking acne will subside and it’s all hormonal but alas it didn’t. That’s when I started using Witch Hazel & Pixi Glow Tonic. It’s been over a month now since I started using these two magical products.
Post Pregnancy Skincare Routine
First thing I put on my face after cleansing is Witch Hazel, let it dry then then I apply Glow Tonic all over my acne marks. I feel a little tingling sensation after applying glow tonic. Not exactly tingling per se but I can feel the product until it dries off.
Witch Hazel helped in fighting acne and the results were quick and thankfully my skin is bump free atm after a very long time. Not just acne it has tons of other benefits as well.
- Helps with skin inflammation
- Fights psoriasis and eczema
- Helps minimising pores
- Eliminates under eye puffiness
- Treats dandruff
- Treats razor burns
And the list goes on and on.
And Pixi Glow Tonic helps in reducing the scarring caused by acne! This combo is working wonders for my skin. Now that my acne is gone I have started incorporating my previous skin care products such as Vit C Serum, Hydroboost Gel by Neutrogena. Sometimes if I any pimple is popping I just dab Tea Tree Oil by The Body shop over it.
- Witch Hazel
- Pixi Glow Tonic
- Vit C Serum (gives me enough moisturization)
- Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist (every alternate day)
Finally I can say that these two are truly CULT FAVES as they helped in clearing acne and acne marks! Plus these also helped in shrinking my pores! I didn’t realise it until my friend pointed out this.
Just wondering if Collagen Creams are safe to use while breastfeeding! Have searched a lot on the internet and it’s Vit A, Salicylic Acid/BHA (basically acne spot treatment creams) are not advised to use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
P. S. Pixi Glow Tonic has 5% Glycolic Acid and it’s safe to use during breastfeeding. Still request you to do your research on what’s good for you and your baby as I am no expert.
